Reconstructed
The original building was the home of Gottlieb Shober, a man of many talents.
During Brother Shober's lifetime he served as a tinsmith, leatherworker, postmaster, paper
mill owner, housepainter, lawyer, politician, minister, teacher, organist, and merchant.

The original home was constructed by the storekeeper, Traugott Bagge, for the living
quarters of his store assistant, George Biwighausen.

Reassembled
Built by her second husband, the surveyor, Christian Reuter, this home originally
sat on Main Street. It was moved to the rear of the lot by John Vogler to make room
for his new house in 1816, the year that Anna Catharina died. In 1947 the house was
disassembled by the Society of Colonial Dames and was placed in storage. The home
was reassembled in 1954 using the original materials.
